Unismuh Makassar Enters UI GreenMetric 2025 Ranking, Achieves 62nd National and 624th Worldwide Ranking

Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar demonstrates a positive initial step in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025. In its first participation, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar achieved a ranking of 62nd nationally and 624th globally, a commendable achievement resulting from various campus management efforts focused on sustainability.

The ranking announcement was made on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, during a formal event held at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP). This result is a source of pride for the academic community of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, and also a starting point for strengthening sustainability programs in the future.

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is an international ranking developed by Universitas Indonesia to measure the commitment and performance of universities in the field of environmental sustainability. The UI GreenMetric assessment is based on six main categories, namely Setting and Infrastructure (setting and infrastructure), Energy and Climate Change (energy and climate change), Waste (waste management), Water (water usage), Transportation (transportation system), as well as Education and Research (education and research) focused on sustainability.

As part of its first participation in the UI GreenMetric ranking, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar also obtained the Trees Rating Certificate and the UI GreenMetric Compliance Certificate. The Compliance Certificate is awarded to universities that have met the six main criteria of UI GreenMetric, including setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water usage, transportation system, as well as sustainable education and research. The Trees Rating Certificate is a form of appreciation for Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar's attention to maintaining and developing green spaces on campus. The efforts of planting and maintaining vegetation sustainably are considered to contribute to creating a healthy, natural, and comfortable academic environment for the academic community.

Various initiatives for greening and environmental management have been carried out, which contribute to creating a greener, healthier, and more comfortable campus for the academic community. These efforts are an important part of the process towards a sustainable campus.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar's participation in UI GreenMetric is not only interpreted as a ranking, but also as a recognition of the tangible steps taken by the campus to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This achievement is a positive impetus for the institution to continue improving the quality of sustainable policies and practices. Through the UI GreenMetric 2025 results, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar reaffirms its commitment to continue developing as an environmentally conscious university. With the spirit of collaboration from all the academic community, Unismuh Makassar is optimistic about strengthening its role in sustainable development at the national and global levels.
